To modernization the Commercial Driver's License Information System (CDLIS). Following modernization CDLIS will: (1) comply with applicable Federal information technology security standards; (2) provide for the electronic exchange of all information including the posting of convictions; (3) contain self auditing features to ensure that data is being posted correctly and consistently by the States; and (4) integrate the commercial driver's license and the medical certificate.

Program Accomplishments

Fiscal Year 2008: Conversion of States to a new, encrypted network system; development of interim data quality edits; development of Request for Proposal and selection of vendor to design and maintain the new CDLIS Central Site; awards to States to aid in the modernization efforts.
